So who's the top 3 candidates?
Frank De Boer
Ajax
Frank's (we are friends) pedigree has risen over the past few years. He has been successful at bringing through youth replacing the outgoing (normally tottenham bound) players. Something Tottenham themselves are quite famous for (I do mean losing there players not replacing them). Frank plays an exciting style of football that has brought him success as he has develop through the Ajax management teams. He has inexperience of the premier league but as a player was successful in many countries. His name could keep the likes of Vertonghen and Eriksen happy at the club. But is he another Ramos that it was actually his supporting cast doing most of the work. If I'm honest if we bring De Boer we probably should try and bring his arsenal contingency with him of Bergkamp and Overmars. As a team they can reshape the club and build a legacy. Without the team it could be a one man vs many job again with the board.
Mauricio Pochettino
Southampton
Then new exciting name in the premiership. But actually what has he achieved. He in his first two seasons has achieved a 8th and 10th place finish. Looking at the southampton squad he has able to not only improve a team but also adapt there style of play. They are exciting quick and very unpredictable. To be honest this sounds a bit to much like a Martin Jol Tottenham Hotspur team. He is also quite young but before Southampton he was a big failure at Espanyol, and it's a worry that Southampton is a one off. Also Pochettino is already bored at Southampton so what we don't want is a two season wonder. Again like De Boer how much was this achieved by the previous chairman as the Southampton form dropped when he left the club.
Rafa Benitez
Napoli
A late comer to the party of the job
Benitez won the Champions League during his time at Anfield in that famous final in Istanbul in 2005, while his turbulent six months as ‘Interim Manager’ at Chelsea saw him lead the Blues from their disastrous Champions League campaign under Roberto Di Matteo to European glory once again, as they defeated Benfica to claim the Europa League title.
Now with Napoli, Benitez has impressed once again, leading the Italian side to victory in the Coppa Italia and potentially more importantly in the eyes of the Tottenham board, into third position and a place in next season’s Champions League.
On a downside his football is boring and mundane but is it about time that results come before football. If Benitez does get the I would expect the board to want instant success. Whereas the others I think would be given time. Pressure would be on from day one but he was at Chelsea and he was able to do a decent job there.
