Always in My Head
A whimsical choir start goes into a typical slow tempo Coldplay style. Chris Martins voice arranges like a lost friend. You really would recognise his voice everywhere. The song bounces along a repetitive drum beat and guitar rif. What is nice, is that this is an easy listening summer song that I can imagine having as background for a BBQ. It would not put people off what they were saying but it's nice to listen to. If this came on the radio it would not really catch my attention but I don't dislike it.

Magic
Magic starts off like a Sion Whiley song that I have heard a million times before. (if you have not heard of him listen to him on Spotify). The difference between magic and the first song is that the guitar is much more prominent in the production. Also the way it goes up and down the chords. Also it has a acid trip style background. It makes it sound like everything is coming from the mind. The words are feelings, the words direct the song. I love this song it's not catchy in anyway but it does stick in your head. It is just a fantastic piece of songwriting. The thing that makes it for me is the acoustic guitar being added through the song. It gives it a new dynamic.

Acoustic notes are played through which is a nice change of speed from the first two songs. To me though I feel that the drums on all the songs are very samey so far. It really causes the album so far not to really take off. It makes me think that most of the album was written without the rest of the band and with drum machines. Saying that the acoustic guitars on this is perfect and does add a new dynamic to the album. A this becomes a beautiful song which I could listen to all day. Chris's voice to me blends so well with acoustic guitars and I wish they done more simple acoustic songs

True Love
For a second I was in control the words are very potent. Then that same bloody drum machine comes back in. Now I've listened to Coldplay and they don't need the same mundane sounding drum machine on every song. The song does just seem to drift on. No real change at all just really does drift. I men it's a beautiful song but the album already has beautiful songs on it. What it needs is a go. The album so far seems a few steps back, and maybe a bit overproduced

Midnight
Single notes being played at a similar tone to the voice. What Coldplay do very well is make things sound very simple but effective. I have no idea whether it is easy as I'm only a listener but this again takes you to an ingesting place if you close you eyes. It soft it's warm it's comfortable. Its strange that this album is a breakup album but it does give off warmth and togetherness. Overall though this song does just pass though

Anothers Arms and Oceans
I have decided to put thes two songs together not for any reason but I'm starting to see this album as a single body of work. I have decided just to listen not to pull every song apart of this or that. Both these songs flow and work on this album but not as individual songs.

A Sky Full of Stars
A Sky Full of Stars
A true Coldplay song. The keyboards playing in the background becomes the forefront and Martins voice stands out. Even without Martins voice you could tell straight away that this is a Coldplay song. This though mixes we'll with the album. I can understand where this fits in. The song is catchy and it drives the album on after what feels quite a bit like a few instrumental songs. Love it

What a fantastic way to end the album. A beautiful piano piece. It just was fantastic listen too. I love it when a album finishes like that. Some albums leaving you wanting more. But what I want from a album is a piece of work. Like a book it finishes and then it leaves you content ready to listen to the whole piece again.
5/5
The album as a whole should be listened as a whole. This is not a one or two stand out track album this is a whole piece of work. Trying to rate songs individually became difficult because it was the same as reviewing a quarter to a piece of art. This is a fantastic album when it is looked upon as a single piece of work in a single time period. I have seen a lot of reviews trying to compare this album to past albums but look at this as a piece of music done by a band and take all your preconceptions away. This is a truly great album whatever way you look at it.
Just listen and enjoy
